Abstract

The low productivity of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) in Peru is closely linked to the use of infected seed and limited access to effective disinfection technologies. This study evaluated the effect of ozone and oxygen micro-nanobubble system applied to irrigation on the quality and vigor of pre-basic seed potato (cv. INIA 303) in Canaán, Ayacucho, Peru. Four treatments were applied (T1: 100%, T2: 75%, T3: 50% nano-oxygen; T4: control) under a completely randomized design. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and Tukey’s test (α = 0.05). Results revealed highly significant differences (p < 0.0001) in plant height. At 21 days, T1 (17.24 ± 0.43ᵃ cm) significantly outperformed T4 (10.02 ± 0.95ᶜ cm). At 140 days, T1 (172.4 ± 2.04ᵃ cm) maintained the highest performance, followed by T2 (166.6 ± 3.33ᵃᵇ cm), while T4 (104.0 ± 5.34ᶜ cm) showed the lowest. In terms of seed quality, T1 produced a higher proportion of tubers >20 g, contributing to improved yield. The findings suggest that oxygenation and ozonation technology enhances vegetative growth, increases potential yield, and reduces hypoxia and pathogen stress, representing a promising strategy to improve seed health and productivity in pre-basic seed potato production under Andean highland conditions.
