energía mediante incineración, pirólisis y gasificación
resultan con beneficios ambientales netos, estos
operan 2000 t/día de desechos residuales, lo cual solo
aplica a ciudades metropolitanas (Dong et al., 2019).
Si bien en todos los Escenarios de emisiones no hubo
diferencia significativa respecto al potencial de calen-
tamiento global (GWP); en el Escenario 5 el impacto
ambiental de una tonelada de RSU por año en relación
con las emisiones al aire contribuyó con un GWP de

aproximadamente 149-209 kg equivalente a CO , NH

y N O combinados, seguido de 38 a 154 kg de CO -eq

reportando por Ferronato et al. (2021a) con 341 a 552

Spadaro, 2015). Los contaminantes que tuvieron varia-
ción significativa en aire fueron el As, CH , CO, Cd,

Cu, H S, HC Clorado, Hg, N O, NOx, HC total y Zn.

Al comparar el Escenario 5 con respecto al Escenario
1, se demostró que el promedio anual en kg por tonela-
da de RSU de las emisiones de CH , NO , H S, HC total
4 x 2
y HC clorado en el aire diminuyeron en 91,9%;
152,1%; 91,1% y 89,7% respectivamente. La reduc-
ción del CH cobra especial importancia ya que el
4
biogás está constituido principalmente de CH (60%) y
4
CO2 (35-40%) y trazas de NH , H S, H ,O , N y CO

(Abdeshahian et al., 2016) y en el hecho que su GWP
es 34 veces mayor que el CO en un periodo de 100

años(Myhre et al., 2013). La disminución de GWP de
87,4% en el Escenario 5 concuerda con lo estudiado
por Ferronato et al. (2021b) quienes encontraron que
un sistema de recolección eficiente puede reducir el
GWP y potencial de eutrofización en aproximadamen-
te 75% y 55% respectivamente.También Ziegler-
Rodriguez et al. (2019) hallaron que el uso de un relle-
no sanitario con la quema de biogas puede reducir el
GWP entre 50% y 76% lo cual es conveniente si consi-
deramos que la emisión de los GEI en los primeros 5
años es menor en zonas andinas y los Escenarios con
sistema de captura y combustión de biogas resultó
menos contaminante y adecuado para paises en desa-
rrollo (Caicedo et al., 2021). Hubo un incremento
significativo en aire de Cu y Pb; sin embargo se puede
afirmar que estos contaminantes por las pequeñas
cantidades emitidas no superaron los valores máximos
de concentración permitidos.
En las comparaciones de las emisiones al agua entre el
Escenario 5 y el 1, se evidenció un incrementó signifi-
-
cativo de los TOC y NO a valores de 0,0730 y 0,0225

kg/t respectivamente; pero hubo una disminución

significativa en los contaminantes AOx, NH4 , COD,

Cd, CN , Fl y HC Clorado, lo cual resulta muy impor-
tante ya que la contaminación de agua subterránea por
lixiviados no tratados puede darse por Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe,
- - 2- +
Ni, Pb y Zn así como por Cl , NO , SO , NH4 , Fenol

y DQO (Mor et al., 2006) y microplásticos tales como
polietileno, polipropileno y poliestireno (Nurhasanah
et al., 2021) que pueden servir de vehículos de otros
contaminantes tales como metales pesados, hidrocar-
buros aromáticos policíclicos, bifenilos policlorados,
perfluoroalquilos y sustancias polifluoradas (Golwala
et al., 2021). La relación de BOD/COD en el Escenario
5 fue de 0,042 (< 0,01) lo que indicó que el lixiviado
tuvo concentraciones bajas de ácidos grasos volátiles
y cantidades relativamente más altas de compuestos
húmicos y fúlvicos (Kjeldsen et al., 2002). El aumento
-
significativo de pequeñas trazas de NO indicó toxici-
3
dad en el lixiviado lo que implica la realización de
futuros estudios para determinar su relación con las
comunidades microbianas del relleno sanitario (Na-
veen et al., 2021) y conocer el contenido de metales
pesados en los sedimentos y los sólidos en suspensión
(Xaypanya et al., 2018).
En los modelamientos la generación total de biogás en
la ciudad de Chachapoyas no proporcionó suficiente
gas para abastecer el funcionamiento, al menos par-
cial, de un incinerador, aún cuando la eficiencia de
recolección establecida fue de 90%, ya que este tipo de
tecnologías podrían ser reales para ciudades de más de
100 mil habitantes (Posada, 2020), pues un sistema de
